Estar A La Que Salta

¡Buenos Días!

My Spanish phrase of the day is:

Estar a la que salta

This means to always be on the lookout for something that you can take advantage of.  It describes a person who never misses a trick.  It also has a negative meaning which is to never miss an opportunity to criticize or find fault with someone.

Example Sentences:

Ricardo encontrará empleo pronto porque siempre está a la que salta.

estás a la que salta, cada vez que me equivoco te ríes de mí.

Spanishpodcast.net has a podcast devoted to the meaning and origin of this expression.  Click here to go to the website, or go to www.spanishpodcast.net (episode 63).

¡Hasta pronto!
